Depression

This is the most well-known face of psychiatry. Perhaps you have noticed that you lack energy, have a more pessimistic view of the world, and lack motivation to do activities that you used to do without difficulty or even enjoyed.

Sometimes this is combined with very powerful feelings of helplessness and vulnerability, which cause us to gradually withdraw into ourselves, tending toward isolation and abandoning our hobbies.

Depression can vary in intensity, but it always affects the functioning of the person suffering from it. It is common to hear that the person has difficulty concentrating, which reduces their performance at work.
Apathy also affects a person’s self-care, who gradually begins to neglect themselves, sometimes neglecting their appearance, hygiene, or diet. The feeling that life has lost its meaning can take over everything.

Sometimes depression occurs on its own, but it can also be accompanied by anxiety-type symptoms.

Anxiety

Anxiety disorders encompass different subtypes such as panic disorder, generalized anxiety, and agoraphobia, among others.

They cause suffering in the person who experiences them, leading to insomnia, loss of appetite, binge eating, or various somatic symptoms (palpitations, shortness of breath, nausea, etc.). Anxiety is the most frequently recorded mental health problem in the medical history of Spaniards. The good news is that there is a solution.

The approach that has shown the best results in the case of anxiety disorders is a combined one, that is, cognitive-behavioral therapy accompanied by appropriate psychopharmacological treatment. The drug will enable a reduction in anxiety levels, which will lessen suffering and allow the patient to put into practice what has been worked on in psychotherapy sessions.
